Located in the heart of the Netherlands lies a botanical garden, where vibrant colors and sweet scents converge to create an unforgettable experience.

Welcome to Keukenhof Gardens, a floral paradise that entices people from around the world to flock to Holland and immerse themselves in a floral paradise unlike any other.

Discovering Keukenhof Gardens

Every spring, Keukenhof bursts into bloom, transforming into a surreal canvas of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, and other spring flowers.

Spanning many acres of meticulously landscaped grounds, the gardens offer a captivating journey through a variety of themed gardens, meandering pathways, and enchanting displays.

As you wander through Keukenhof, prepare to be mesmerized!

I’ll never forget the first time, many years ago, when I saw photos of the “Tulips in Amsterdam”.

My initial reaction was disbelief; it felt too surreal to be true. Since then, I have had a strong desire to visit during Springtime, but for many years, this dream never materialized. After years of anticipation, and even crafting itineraries for my clients that included visits to the gardens, my long-awaited chance finally arrived. After our river cruise concluded in Antwerp, Wilbert, one of our trusted travel partners based in Amsterdam, greeted us at the disembarkation point. Together, we embarked on a delightful journey from Antwerp back to Amsterdam. Along the way, we made a special stop at Keukenhof, and wow, what an incredible experience it turned out to be.

Initially, we were disheartened as rain greeted us the moment we pulled into the parking lot at Keukenhof Gardens. I couldn’t help but feel disappointed even though, of course, rain is common in spring.

Within moments though, the sky cleared, and just like that, the gardens lay before us, blissfully devoid of crowds. It was a surreal scene and a moment of unexpected excitement, as we found ourselves with the magnificent gardens partially to ourselves, free to explore and revel in their beauty without the hustle and bustle of the crowd.

The rain ended up being a blessing in disguise. With raindrops falling, crowds dispersed, and many visitors decided to call it a day.

We hadn’t taken two steps into the gardens before we were utterly blown away. The explosion of colors, the sheer variety of flowers, and the meticulous neatness of it all left us speechless. It was like stepping into a painting. Everywhere we looked, there was beauty in every shade and hue.

As we wandered through the gardens and winding pathways, each turn revealed a new array of flowers, each more breathtaking than the last. There were unending fields of tulips in every imaginable color, each step unveiling a new treasure.

There was even a romantic Rose Garden and a Japanese Garden. There’s something to enchant every guest.

My favorite area was undoubtedly the orchid pavilions, where a stunning variety of orchids are carefully displayed. The discovery of the orchid pavilions was a delightful surprise for me, as I had mistakenly believed that Keukenhof Gardens were solely dedicated to tulips.

The number and variety of delicate orchids was staggering! They came in an astonishing array of shapes, colors, and sizes, each meticulously cultivated to perfection. I was truly astounded by the sheer diversity of orchids present at Keukenhof. It was an eye-opening experience to realize just how many different varieties exist, each one more beautiful and unique than the last.

In the end, it took some convincing from Ryan and Wilbert to tear me away from the orchid pavilions. I was so captivated by the beauty and variety of the orchids that I didn’t want to leave. Here are a few more amazing varieties of flowers we discovered. They were unbelievable!
