Africa.  Exotic, mysterious, immense.  A continent that is on almost everyone’s bucket list.  Many will say a trip to Africa is a once in a lifetime event but I strongly disagree.  You see, here’s the issue.  Once you go, once you have been stared down by a lion or watched a leopard stalk his prey, you know you have to return.

I was born on the Island of Mombasa, off the East Coast of Kenya, and lived there for the first five years of my life.  After several decades, I was finally able to return to the place of my birth, and I fell in love with it all over again.  Already, we plan to return next Spring.  So…travelers beware.  You can’t say you haven’t been warned.

I am so overwhelmed with you and your family. i have read all the stories and all the comments. I think this is so beautiful what you all are doing. I spoke with my daughter Kemberly. She told me that she remembers you and said that you were one of her friends at Messiah College. She also stated that she thought at one time you might have been roommates. I am sure you will be hearing from her soon. She is busy right now finishing up on her book and the planning of my 75th Birthday Party for July 24, 2014. God Bless all of you and I will be checking from day to day to see where you all are.

    • Thanks for letting me know, Bettie. It was so nice getting the opportunity to meet you and share a Familiarization trip with you. Blessing to you on your 75th birthday in a few weeks. How exciting! ~Deena
