Zurich and The Storchen – Days 19
Como to Zurich – Since our plans in Italy shifted in order to reschedule our Lake Como Cruise, we arrived into Zurich rather late in the evening, with an early morning flight scheduled for the next day. As we drove from the train station to our hotel, however, we were quite surprised by how quaint and charming the streets of Zurich were! Zurich is gorgeous at night time.
We are so thankful that we made the decision to stay an extra day in Zurich before flying home to Chicago. Zurich is a beautiful city and definitely worth the time to explore. The Old Town areas and by the water are especially lovely.
Exploring Zurich was a joy and an unexpected surprise.
Walking through the Old Town area was impressive!

There were gorgeous flowers everywhere, even in the fountains!
Walking around was very laid back and it was so much fun to explore everything. We almost missed this remarkable dome-like arch as we explored on foot. Beautiful, isn’t it?
And of course, a little shopping.
Our hotel was located in the older section of town, and the cobblestoned streets were narrow, winding through many cute shops and cafes. We had completely underestimated how beautiful Zurich was! Between our exhaustion and our desire to experience more of this city, we decided to extend our stay by one additional day. This decision was confirmed upon arrival to our hotel, where we were welcomed so warmly and treated to drinks and snacks before heading to our lovely room, overlooking the river! Below is the lobby area and a few public spaces as well.
The public areas of this hotel are very elegant yet understated.
There are cozy spaces located throughout the hotel and we found a few that evening.
Our room was so elegant and comfortable. The bed below is actually a king bed. In Switzerland, however, even king beds are made with two twin comforters instead of one large king covering. It’s the only country so far where we have experienced this.
Here are the outdoor areas of this beautiful hotel. Gorgeous views can be enjoyed while sipping on your favorite beverage.
I loved that they have fur lined chairs and blankets available in colder weather!
