Cernobbio – Day 16
It was a beautiful morning! This is the view that greeted us as we left our villa.
We spent the day exploring in and around Lake Como at a very relaxed leisurely pace. Because it was so nice out, we actually took a very long walk from our hotel into Como’s Old Town, explored quite a bit, and enjoyed some amazing gelato at L’ULivo, which is very close to the Lakeside Promenade.

While we could have stayed in Como and continued to meander through the streets, we instead hopped on a local bus, driving past our hotel, and on to the small town of Cernobbio.
Cernobbio was a complete surprise and we almost didn’t visit because we had not read or heard much about it at all prior to our arrival. It is a small charming quiet lakeside village a very short bus or ferry ride away.
There is a very pleasant shady promenade area right by the water with benches and grassy areas, where you can escape from the crowds with a delicious picnic and gorgeous lake views.
Strolling around the Old Town is also very enjoyable and you will find several restaurants, cafes, and gelaterias to visit.
Cernobbia is small and quaint, and very picturesque. The town is nestled into the natural beauty surrounding it and makes for a fantastic oasis during busier travel months. That said, I can only speak for what it’s like in the Spring, as we have not visited during the height of summer and tourism.
We enjoyed a little light shopping…
…and then stopped for a quick treat.

Our favorite thing to do while here was grab a spot by the lake and sit with our lunch and gelato, enjoying the peaceful setting and people watching with the locals.
There is also a Secret Garden to explore that truly is hidden, but more on that later. For more information on our itineraries, feel free to email us at dtgainor@gmail.com or visit Global Getaways to learn more about who we are and how we work.
