Como City Old Town – Day 14

After a full day exploring the beauty of Bellagio and Varenna by ferry, we made a quick stop in downtown Como the next day, tired, chilly, and caught in the rain. At first glance, it didn’t leave much of an impression, and we didn’t stay long. What we didn’t realize at the time was that we had barely scratched the surface. Como had so much more to offer, and we nearly missed it.

The next day, we walked past the waterfront area in search of the Cathedral. The closer we got, the more quaint and charming the streets and buildings were. We were completely surprised. We loved it but I’ll let the photos do the talking.

Como is a very walkable city. While it is tempting to stay close to the pretty Lakeside Promenade area, very recently renovated, please make sure you take time to head away from the lake, toward the city center and Old Town.

Along the way, you will stroll through narrow, medieval streets lined with stores, cozy squares, cafés, and restaurants.

This photo was taken earlier in the day, but later when we walked by later, seats were filled with couples and families enjoying time together.

So many vibrant colored buildings throughout Old Town.

Gorgeous cobblestoned streets

So many cafés and restaurants with outdoor spaces.

Beautiful stone buildings

Markets and fresh produce throughout the Old Town.

And we finally got to the beautiful cathedral.
