Viking Modi

The Viking Modi is one of Viking’s longboats – also similar in size to most river cruise ships. It tends to hold more passengers, however, with an estimated 190 cruisers versus its competitors, who sail with 150 – 164 guests in the same space.

The Viking Modi showcases a Scandinavian design with lighter woods and and natural light.

Their public spaces include a lounge-bar as well as a sun deck and an outdoor seating area in the bow of the ship with retractable floor to ceiling glass doors.

I enjoyed the design of the seats in this area especially because of the great views.

Staterooms: The staterooms range in size and location from the very standard cabins at the lowest decks (partially below the water line) to French Balcony and Verandah balcony staterooms.

I appreciated the many little touches scattered throughout the ship.

Seating and living spaces are more generous in the larger suites, so if space and comfort are important, I would encourage you to upgrade.

Here are a few photos of the closet space in some of the larger suites.

And like all of the previous river cruise lines I’ve already discussed, the bathrooms are always surprisingly nice.

We enjoyed a wonderful luncheon with Viking during our stay.

The sun deck offers tables and chairs to lounge about, and when there’s pleasant weather, guests may be allowed to dine outside.

And look…they even grow some of their own herbs for dining! I’ve seen this on other ships too, and really love this.
